Houston, TEXAS – Two (2) substitutes combined for a late goal to lift Austin FC to a 1-0 victory over Houston Dynamo FC at Shell Energy Stadium on Saturday night, as CJ Fodrey set up Emiliano Rigoni for an 86-minute match-winning goal. The assist was the first of Fodrey’s MLS career and the victory means Austin has now won six of the nine all-time meetings against Houston.

Houston piled on the pressure early and Brendan Hines-Ike made a crucial block in the 7th minute to prevent the hosts from taking the lead. De Verde & Black then quickly found their footing and created three (3) quality chances of their own. The Dynamo responded with a chance just before half-time, but a strong save from Brad Stuver kept Houston out. Stuver remained solid throughout the match, making a total of six (6) saves while keeping his second clean sheet of the season.

As the second half progressed, Head Coach Josh Wolff made several substitutions that helped turn the tide of the game in Austin’s favor. In the final moments, Fodrey’s header played Rigoni behind the Houston defense, and the Argentinian’s precise low finish to the far post saw the Verde & Black claim all three (3) points.
