Controversial statement from former NBA star after Lakers vs. Nuggets Game 1

The Los Angeles Lakers fell to the Denver Nuggets in Game 1 of their opening round on Saturday night. The Lakers played well until halftime, but fell apart in the third quarter as Denver outscored them 32-18 in that frame.

The Lakers took a slight lead in the fourth quarter, but the Nuggets answered it perfectly to secure the victory. After the game, former NBA star and Memphis Grizzlies guard Gilbert Arenas sent a message predicting the Lakers would win this series in seven games:

Needless to say, this is a controversial version of Arenas. For the Lakers to win this series, they will first have to start by winning one game against the Nuggets, something they have not done in their last nine meetings with this team. Last year the Lakers were swept by Denver in the Western Conference finals, but this year they were swept by them in the regular season and are now down 0-1 in the opening round.

A lot can change after just one playoff game, but a lot will have to happen for the Lakers to knock off the Nuggets in the first round. Crazier things have happened, but this Nuggets group won the title last year for a reason and seems motivated to do it again.
