Michigan crash: Brother, 5, and sister, 8, killed when car crashes into children’s party, injuring 15 more

A pair of young siblings were killed and 15 others injured – many seriously – after a car crash that caused tragedy at a birthday party at a boat club in Michigan, US.

A brother and sister aged five and eight – with another fifteen injured – after a car crashed into a children’s birthday party.

The horror crash took place at a boat club in Berlin Township, Michigan, USA. The driver, a 66-year-old woman, was reportedly under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the deaths of the brother and sister. It also reported that of the 15 injured, at least eight were children, the Mirror US reported.

According to Denise Sovey Meyer, Berlin’s city clerk, the driver has been taken into custody. The gruesome incident took place around 3pm on Saturday. The victims were rushed to several local hospitals for treatment, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Troy Goodnough described during a news conference later that evening how the woman drove her vehicle into the facility at a high rate of speed and ended up about 25 feet inside after crashing through the wall.

He disclosed that nine of the 15 injured were in critical condition and had to be taken to hospitals, while the rest were transported by car. Among them were three children and six adults.
