Coastal women put devils on edge in CC action

CHESTERTOWN, Md. – The Dickinson women’s tennis team suffered its second straight Centennial Conference loss Saturday afternoon when they defeated Washington College 8-1 at the Schottland Tennis Center.

Doubles (coastal women 3-0)
The only devils pair to win games was the second unit of Dana Kleinman And Sara Jaklitsch when they fell 8-3 to Piper Sartison and Isabella Sorhegui. The other two DC teams of Alisa Steele And Bonnie Thomas (1st) and also Maddie Lindquist And Molly Michel (3rd) were each blank in their respective matches 8-0.

Singles (Women 5-1)
DC’s only win came in the sixth slot, as the match had already been decided. Jaklitsch and Carrie Lord played a one-setter that went to the devil 8-4. Both Steele and one Anabelle Armendarez the fifth slot saw identical 1-6, 2-6 games against Sartison and Sorhegui. Michel did well against Soleil Namunyola in third place, but fell 3-6, 3-6. Thomas (2nd) and Kleinman (4th) each managed only one match over opponents Eva Kading (0-6, 1-6) and MC Diaz-Nazario (1-6, 0-6).

The first serve
Dickinson (9-6, 3-4 Centennial) will look to snap their skid and continue a late-season push toward a postseason berth on Monday when they head to the battlefield for a showdown with Gettysburg College. The first service is scheduled for 4 p.m.
